Summary
We are immersed in a rich, three-dimensional soundscape that is, in turn, fully integrated into our multisensory perception of the world. Yet your brain only has access to is the representation of sound frequency that is encoded at your two ears. From this, it must figure out which sound elements belong to your friend’s voice, and which belong to the voice of the man on the table next to you, the coffee machine on the counter, and the cars in the street outside. In this talk we will consider how the brain constructs your perception of sound, including how what you seeing and hearing combine.
