Accommodation at one of England’s finest historic city centre hotels: Quebecs, in the heart of Leeds.

Monday

– Private Coach to Leeds with lunch stop

– Afternoon conducted tour of the Leeds city centre

– Visit to Leeds Library – the oldest surviving subscription library of its type inthe UK. Conducted tours of the collection.

– Followed by an illustrated talk on the background to the tour by Tony Burton OBE, Secretary of the Society.

– Buffet supper at the Library

Tuesday

– Morning visit to the 12th century Kirkstall Abbey with a guided tour

– Followed by a visit to Leeds Industrial Museum

– Late afternoon talk by Leeds City Chief Planning Officer

– Evening free

Wednesday

– Morning visit to the Hepworth Art Gallery in Wakefield – guided tour and lunch

– Early afternoon visit and talk at Leeds Art Gallery

– Dinner at Quebecs with guests from the Leeds Phil & Lit Council

Thursday

– Morning visit to the National Coal Mining Museum including underground tour

– Visit on return journey to Salts Mill, Bradford, once the largest industrial building in the world by total floor area. David Hockney works on display.

– Return coach to Glasgow by 7.30pm
