Lord Kelvin: a celebration

Hunterian Museum
25th September 2024, 5.15pm to 8pm
Bookings closed

Our annual soirée took place at the Hunterian Museum, University of Glasgow on Wednesday 25th September 2024.

As mentioned at the AGM, it focused on Lord Kelvin, who twice served as the RPSG President and had a long association with Glasgow University.

This year is the 200th anniversary of Lord Kelvin’s birth, and the evening included a lecture and an opportunity to view some of his scientific instruments.

Humanity Lecture Theatre

The lecture took place in the Humanity Lecture Theatre, the most historic and atmospheric lecture theatre in the University.

Hunterian Museum

The lecture was followed by drinks and canapes in the nearby magnificent Hunterian Museum, where there was also an opportunity to look round the museum, and in particular the display dedicated to the life and work of Lord Kelvin.
